Can I borrow a Common Access Reader (CAC) Reader while in the Library?

Answer

We offer CAC Readers for our military service customers for in-library use at three locations. Service members may use the CAC Reader on the library's computers or on their own laptops/devices to access their work email, or other military encrypted online resources.

CAC readers are available for two hour time periods at the Maryland City at Russett Library, Severn Library and Odenton Library. To checkout a CAC reader, please show your valid library card and military ID to a library staff member. If you need the reader for longer than two hours, you may check out the reader again at the end of the allotted time period. CAC readers must remain within the library building. The readers are compatible with computers that have Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux operating systems with USB ports.
